JENSEN USA - "would like to congratulate the mountain bikers who finished the grueling Vision Quest and Counting Coup events on March 1. Vision Quest, featuring a 55-mile course with nearly 11,000 feet of climbing, and Counting Coup, at 42-miles and nearly 9,000 feet of climbing, are two of the toughest cycling endurance events in Southern California.

Jenson USA team rider Daniel Perez had an amazing 2nd place finish in a field of about 150 riders in the Counting Coup. Daniel broke off an almost unthinkable time of 4-hours 22-minutes to earn the spot.

His teammates, Mark Mumea and Rod Leveque, both completed the Vision Quest, which traversed the same route as the Counting Coup, with an additional climb and descent before the finish. Mark finished 33rd in the 180-rider field with a time of 6-hours 50-minutes. Rod finished 50th with a time of 7-hours 16-minutes.

Though not technically races, a handful of elite riders, such as Daniel, compete for the bragging rights that come with the top times. The vast majority of participants, however, simply enter for the challenge of completing the agonizing journey through the rugged Cleveland National Forest above Orange County, Calif.

The twin events were organized by the Warrior's Society, a group of cyclists, trail runners and hikers who have dedicated themselves to improving and protecting the trails of the Trabuco District of the Cleveland forest."
